About Atlantic General Hospital's Construction Process?
Atlantic General Hospital opened in May of 1993, six weeks ahead of schedule
and below budget.
The hospital was a $15 million project that was funded by a private-public
partnership of individual donors, the State of Maryland, Town of Ocean
City, and County grants.
About Atlantic General Hospital's Campus Design?
AGH is a 62 bed acute care facility with 56 acute general beds and 6 critical
care beds.
AGH / HS provides care to over 58,000 residents and visitors to the community
each year.
In 2003, a 33,000 square-foot expansion to the primary facility was completed
primarily to expand the emergency department.
In 2008, the 42,000 square-foot James G. Barrett Medical Office Building
opened on the hospital's campus, providing space for Atlantic General
Endoscopy and Urology Center, Atlantic General Bariatric Center, Atlantic
General Hospital Wound Care Center, and the former location of the Regional
Cancer Care Center and other healthcare services. The building now also
includes Atlantic General Rheumatology and the offices of Atlantic General Urology.
In 2018, The John H. 'Jack' Burbage, Jr. Regional Cancer Care Center opened
on the hospital's campus. The 18,000-square-foot center, which was built
at the corner of Rt. 113 and Old Ocean City Boulevard (Rt. 346), provides
one centrally-located, convenient facility for the care and treatment
of individuals with cancer and blood disorders. In addition to previously
available medical oncology and chemotherapy infusion services and integrative
therapies, the new center includes radiation oncology; PET/CT imaging;
laboratory services; community education and support facilities; and telemedicine
technology that allow patients and their physicians to consult with other
cancer care experts at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center,
preventing unnecessary travel for consultation and follow up care for
patients who may require more intensive cancer care services.
In 2023, the nearly 50,000 square-foot Gudelsky Family Medical Center was
established. The center houses a number of primary care and specialty
offices as well as critical ancillary services for northern Worcester
County, conveniently located at 10614 Racetrack Road, in Ocean Pines.
The new facility includes the office practices of Atlantic General Health
System’s primary care providers and specialists located in northern
Worcester County and can accommodate future providers as Atlantic General
continues recruitment efforts for our medically underserved region. These
offices include: Atlantic General Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, Atlantic
General Primary Care - Ocean Pines, Atlantic General Pediatrics and Atlantic
General Gastroenterology. The Gudelsky Family Medical Center also houses
a walk-in lab and x-ray suite and a second AGHRx RediScripts Pharmacy location.
