Guided imagery is used to focus the mind, provide deep relaxation, and shift thoughts away from the external environment. With guided imagery, one can relax into a state of reduced anxiety, relieving or managing stress and its many negative effects on the body and mood.
February and March are often times of stress due to the cold weather, periods of diminished natural light and tax time. Atlantic General Hospital will offer a new four-part guided imagery class, titled Chasing Away the Winter Blues, which will be presented by Karen R. Shipman, LCSW-C.
