Atlantic General Hospital’s Diabetes Outpatient Education Program will hold its next group class session March 21 through April 11, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the hospital.

Subjects covered in the class, which will be taught by a certified diabetes nurse educator and a registered dietitian, will include planning meals, developing a physical activity/exercise plan, monitoring blood glucose, learning about diabetes medications, managing high and low blood sugar, coping with diabetes, learning proper foot care, and more.

Those who were unable to attend the series of classes that started in January are encouraged to sign up for this upcoming session. Individual sessions can be scheduled for those with time conflicts or special needs.

The class, held once a week, will run for four weeks; the class dates are March 21, March 28, April 4, and April 11, 2006.

Participants must pre-register for the class since class size is limited. A referral from a primary care physician and pre-approval from insurance is required. For more information about the Diabetes Outpatient Education Program or to pre-register for this class, please call 410-641-9703.
