Johns Hopkins University’s Associate Professor of Surgery, Michael R. Marohn, D.O., F.A.C.S., will attend an upcoming seminar, titled “The A to Z’s of IBD: All you wanted to know about Inflammatory Bowel Disease but were afraid to ask,” to discuss surgical issues related to the disease, which affects some 600,000 Americans.

Dr. Marohn, a retired Air Force Colonel, was an associate and vice chair of the surgery department at the Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, Md. A co-founder of the USU Department of Defense Tri-Service Videoendoscopic Surgery Program, Dr. Marohn has an interest in minimally invasive surgeries and an extensive background in diseases and disorders of the colon.

Sponsored by Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, the seminar will include information about new medical research, pediatric IBD, surgery, and emotional issues related to IBD. The seminar will be moderated by Atlantic General Hospital gastroenterologist Jerrold Canakis, M.D. and Karen R. Shipman, LCSW-C, clinical director of Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services.
The event, which includes light dinner fare, is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
