Atlantic General Hospital Offers Next Diabetes Education Class Starting May 24, 2006

Atlantic General Hospital’s Diabetes Outpatient Education Program
will hold its next group class session May 24 through June 14, 2006 from
4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the hospital.
Subjects covered in the class, which will be taught by a certified diabetes nurse educator and a registered dietitian, will include planning meals, developing a physical activity/exercise plan, monitoring blood glucose, learning about diabetes medications, managing high and low blood sugar, coping with diabetes, learning proper foot care, and more.
Those who were not able to get into the series of classes that starts March 21 are encouraged to sign up for this upcoming session. Individual sessions can be scheduled for those with time conflicts or special needs.
The class, held once a week, will run for four weeks; the class dates are May 24, May 31, June 7, and June 14, 2006.
Participants must pre-register for the class because class size is limited. A referral from a primary care physician and pre-approval from insurance is required. For more information about the Diabetes Outpatient Education Program or to pre-register for this class, please call 410-641-9703.
