Weather holds for 14th annual tournament
A dense humidity and the threat of rain didn’t deter the 180 golfers who came out to support Atlantic General Hospital during the 14th Annual Fall Golf Classic in late September. The teams roamed Ocean City Golf Club’s Newport Bay and Seaside courses to raise more than $60,000 for the hospital’s foundation – the most ever for this event.
This year’s winners of best ball were teams representing PKS Investment Advisors, Greene Turtle West, and Team Health East. McBee’s team took first place in the scramble, followed by teams from Atlantic Physical Therapy at second and Atlantic/Smith, Cropper and Deeley at third. Atlantic General Hospital’s Michael Franklin won first place in the 50/50 putting contest, and the opportunity to putt for a $10,000 grand prize.
The success of the classic is in large part due to Carousel Resort Hotel and Condominiums, title sponsor once again this year, and the event’s other generous sponsors. A full course dinner was donated by Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Eunice Sorin sponsored lunch; Comcast Spotlight sponsored the Newport Bay Hospitality Cart and Dough Roller Restaurant sponsored the Seaside Hospitality Cart. PNC Bank sponsored the reception, and Wilmington Trust was a sponsor of the Newport Bay cart/greens fees.
