Swim scheduled for 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day, registration begins at noon
The beachfront of the Princess Royale Hotel on 91st Street in Ocean City will be crowded once again with hundreds of Penguin Swim participants and spectators ready to cheer them on as the penguins plunge into the icy Atlantic on New Year’s Day.
With little more than a week remaining until the New Year and everything that means to Atlantic General Hospital supporters, there is still time to raise money and join a team.
“This is a day to wash away the old and splash in the New Year while helping to expand the services and equipment at Atlantic General Hospital,” said Patricia Ilczuk-Lavanceau, Penguin Swim Chair. “Even as a spectator – it is truly an experience.”
Wonderful prizes will be awarded to our brave Penguins for getting wet for a good cause. First, second and third place trophies will also be awarded to individual penguins who raise the most money as well as to teams of penguins who raise the most money. Special recognition will also be given to the youngest and oldest penguin.
This fun-filled family event is sponsored this year by Arby’s of Salisbury, Bull on the Beach, Berlin/Ocean City Wal Mart, The Guerrieri Family Foundation, Midland Electrical Contractors, Full City Media, Red Sun Custom Apparel, Peninsula Rehab & Sports Medicine, Fisher’s Popcorn, Hotel Monte Carlo, Phillip’s Crab House, House of Ribs of Ocean City, Princess Royale Hotel, Comcast Spotlight, Delmarva Broadcasting and Clear Channel Outdoor.
All teams are encouraged to pre-register online at www.penguinswim.atlanticgeneral.org. Or they can contact the hospital’s development office at 410-641-9644 as soon as possible to receive team registration information and sponsorship packets.
