From the top of your head to the tips of your toes: Dozens of Atlantic
General Hospital and Health System providers and physicians will be on-hand
to provide health screenings and answer questions at this year’s
Worcester County AARP Community Health Fair on March 31, 2010 at the Roland
E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City.
Visitors age twelve and older are invited to take advantage of the wide variety of tests and health screenings that will be offered to guide them to a healthy lifestyle.
Atlantic General Hospital, which co-sponsors the event, will provide free lipid testing. The hospital’s mobile lab will also provide glucose testing, which can be used as an indicator for diabetes. Individuals must not eat or drink anything for twelve hours prior to testing to be eligible for either screening.
Men who are 50 or older are encouraged to sign up for the free Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test, which is used to screen for the early stages of prostate cancer.
A host of Atlantic General Hospital and Health System professionals will be on hand to discuss their areas of expertise, such as pulmonary diseases, sleep disorders, women’s health, and joint replacement, and answer general health questions.
Gastroenterology disorder screenings, blood pressure screenings, diet and nutrition information, and diabetes education are just a few of the services offered at the health fair.
For more information about the health fair and its participants and demonstrators, please contact Dawn Denton at 410-641-9268 or ddenton@atlanticgeneral.org.
