AGH Holds Insurance Enrollment Event May 5

More than 50 million Americans are uninsured: Nearly a third of them are
children and more than eight out of 10 are in working families. They are
our friends, neighbors and colleagues -- forced to gamble every day that
they won't get sick or injured.
On May 5, Atlantic General Hospital will hold an open enrollment event as part of the national Cover the Uninsured project. During this event, uninsured Marylanders can learn more about available health care coverage options and receive guidance in filling out plan applications. Atlantic General will have financial counselors on hand to answer questions and assist with the forms.
“As part of our ongoing assistance to our community, financial counselors are always available to assist our patients in need,” said Mickey Griffin, director of patient financial services at Atlantic General. “The enrollment event serves to increase the visibility of our financial counseling services, and we encourage the community to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Atlantic General Hospital’s financial counseling staff will be joined by representatives from Maryland Physicians Care, Priority Partners, the Worcester County Health Department and Worcester County Social Services who can address any specific questions or concerns about their programs.
AGH financial assistance applications will also be available for those who qualify. It is the policy of Atlantic General Hospital/Health System to provide medically necessary services at no charge or at a reduced cost to all eligible individuals who are unable to pay according to the hospital’s guidelines.
If you or one of your dependents has qualified for PAC (Primary Adult Care), free or reduced school lunches, energy assistance, the Food Stamp program, or WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children) and you have an outstanding balance in good standing at Atlantic General Hospital that you cannot afford to pay, you may qualify for the Financial Assistance program.
Living without health insurance is a risk no one should have to take. Please attend May 5 to learn more. The community is also welcome to ask questions and fill out applications at the AGH booth at the AARP Fair, which will be held at the Ocean City Convention Center on May 11.
