AGH Penguin Swim Three Weeks Away

As people around the country wrap up their Christmas shopping and start
making plans for ringing in 2012, many on the Shore are preparing for
a very different sort of New Year’s Day tradition – the18th
Annual AGH Penguin Swim.
Amassing a group of people to run headlong into icy cold water is not an event unique to the East Coast, but the AGH Penguin Swim is a special experience near and dear the hearts of many on the Shore -- and places much farther flung.
Like Craig Kettler, who will be coming to Ocean City to participate in the swim for the fourth year in a row from Leesburg, Va. He learned about the Penguin Swim by chance while visiting Ocean City in 2008 and has made it a family tradition.
“I like to support institutions that really make a difference in their local communities, and AGH is a deserving cause,” said Kettler, who was the top individual fundraiser for last year’s event.
Proceeds from the event, gathered through corporate sponsorships and participant fundraising, support the strategic plans undertaken by Atlantic General Hospital to uphold their mission to improve individual and community health. Atlantic General Hospital is a 501(c) 3 organization.
For more information or to register for this year’s event, individuals and teams can visit penguinswim.atlanticgeneral.org, find us on Facebook at facebook.com/penguinswim or call the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation office at 410-641-9644.
