New system installation will require temporary closure of select outpatient services and interruption to display of online wait times.
Berlin, Md. – On April 1, 2020, Atlantic General Hospital and Health System will install the Allscripts Sunrise Financial Management (SFM) software solution, which will replace the multiple systems currently used to schedule and register patients as well as submit claims for reimbursement.
In addition to simplifying revenue cycle management for the organization, the upgrade will streamline the registration process for patients by combining the demographic, insurance and referring provider records kept for care patients may receive at both the hospital and at any of the health system’s physician practices.
The upgrade will also allow for future conveniences for patients, such as booking appointments and viewing and paying current balances for their bills online.
Due to the complexity of the upgrade, the organization has made the decision to close its Atlantic General Health System physician practices and suspend select services at the hospital on April 1. Additionally, the online wait times service for the emergency department and Atlantic ImmediCare will not be available that day.
“We regret having to interrupt services on April 1, but we feel this is the best way to make the transition with the least amount of impact on patient care throughout the organization,” said Jonathan Bauer, vice president of information systems at Atlantic General Hospital.
The following locations will be closed on April 1, 2020:
- All Atlantic General Health System physician offices (Atlantic ImmediCare clinics will remain open)
- Outpatient Imaging (radiology) – already closed due to COVID-19 restrictions
- Outpatient Laboratory
- John H. ‘Jack’ Burbage, Jr. Regional Cancer Care Center
- Infusion Center – already closed due to COVID-19 restrictions
- Outpatient Surgery – already closed due to COVID-19 restrictions
- Atlantic General Endoscopy and Urology Center – already closed due to COVID-19 restrictions
For urgent situations, patients of Atlantic General Health System's primary care providers and specialists can call the office and ask to speak with the provider on call.
