Emergency Preparedness Tips
Frequently, disasters and other emergencies occur with little or no warning.
The best way to mitigate their effects is to make preparations before a disaster occurs.
You can begin preparing by creating a Disaster Supply Kit containing:
- Bottled water
- Dried and canned food
- Personal care items
- Medications
- Battery operated flashlight and radio
- Cash
- Sleeping bags or blankets
- Pet food
- Store important documents in a waterproof pouch

Recommended Activities
- All Americans should continue to be vigilant, take notice of their surroundings, and report suspicious items or activities to local authorities immediately.
- Everyone should establish an emergency preparedness kit and emergency plan for themselves and their family, and stay informed about what to do during an emergency.
